The widening of Rue du Fort leads to a significant transformation of the residence. Montréal architect Edward Maxwell is commissioned to redesign the property and give it a new identity.
Late 19th Century — A Distinctive Signature
Under Edward Maxwell’s vision, the residence takes on a romantic Château-style character, drawing inspiration from medieval Gothic architecture and the French Renaissance. A distinctive silhouette emerges in the heart of Old Québec.
1964 — A Recognized Heritage
A remarkable testament to Québec City’s architectural evolution, Maison du Fort is designated a heritage building, recognizing its historical and architectural significance.
2025 — A New Chapter
A carefully planned renovation brings new life to Maison du Fort while respecting its historic character. The residence enters a new chapter, bringing together heritage, elegance, and contemporary comfort.
